Carpenter’s Union Local 599 (part of Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters, or IKORCC) has approved a sponsorship for Jake Haney, a sophomore at Valparaiso High School, for his motocross racing. Jake Haney is the son of Keith Haney and grandson of Dan Brown, who are both members of Local 599.
“Jake grew up with Local 599, so he’s part of the IKORCC family,” said Tom Dorsey, IKORCC Senior Supervisor. “As Jake advances in his motocross competitions, so do the expenses. Having a sponsor allows Jake to pursue his goals without worrying about his travel and equipment costs.”
IKORCC and Local 599 visibility will increase as Jake participates in future competitions, rides his bike in local parades and gets his website up and running, where Local 599 will be listed as his sponsor and friends and family can follow his progress and be up-to-speed on his upcoming events. Jake has chosen 599 as his racing number as a way to promote and thank Local 599 for its members’ ongoing support.
“I am absolutely ecstatic about Jake’s steady progress in his motocross competitions,” said grandfather and Local 599 member Dan Brown. “He’s a great kid and a hard worker. Someday soon he’d like to compete nationally, but he knows that his top priority is education. Jake knows how to balance out school and motocross, and we support him one hundred percent.”
