CCSJ Welcomes 5 New Trustees

Calumet College of St. Joseph recently welcomed 5 new members to their Board of Trustees.

“We are excited to welcome these new Trustees, 4 out of 5 of whom are alumni,” said Dr. Amy McCormack, President of Calumet College of St. Joseph. “We are honored that these leaders chose to share their incredible talents with CCSJ. The diversity of their backgrounds and expertise will position us well as we continue to develop our campus, and their bonds to the community will prove vital as we continue our mission of service to the Region.”

The 5 new Board of Trustees members are:

Jennifer Fredericks (CCSJ ‘06) is the Director of Business Development for Ice Miller. She previously served as the Vice President of Business Development at BNY Mellon, and as Regional President of product program and retail operations for the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana. Jennifer was recognized by Northeast Women in Public Finance with a 2021 Trailblazer Award, honoring women in public finance who are helping to define a new generation of leaders. She holds an MBA from Purdue University.

Rena Henderson Mason leads Bold Agenda, a consulting, training and coaching firm focused on empowering leaders to embrace change. She facilitates processes that support shared leadership and focuses on the development of emerging leaders and incorporating disenfranchised voices. Previously, Rena spent over 20 years helping scale businesses in the food, commercial real estate, publishing and investment banking industries. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a Bachelor’s in Finance from Georgetown and is a graduate of the Second City Comedy Writing program.

Ellery Hunter (CCSJ ’98) is an ordained minister at Victory Cathedral Worship Center and author of 2 books on Christianity. He retired in 2021 as the Assistant Vice President of Labor Relations for AT&T after a successful 32 year career. He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Religious Studies at Howard University’s School of Divinity in Washington DC.

Lou Molina, CPA (CCSJ ’77) serves a Director on the Boards of St. Catherine Hospital and the 219 Health Network. Lou retired in 2022 as Chief Executive Officer/Administrator of Community Hospital after holding numerous positions within the Community Healthcare System. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Indiana CPA society and Indiana Hospital Association.

Elizabeth Ortiz, Ed.D. (CCSJ ’83) recently retired as Vice President for Institutional Diversity and Equity at DePaul University. Prior to her work at DePaul, she served as Director of Affirmative Action, Diversity and Employee Relations at Northern Illinois University. She currently serves on the board of the Illinois African-American and Latino Higher Education Alliance (IALHE), is the first vice president of the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education (NADOHE), and is the past-president of the Illinois Latino Council on Higher Education (ILACHE). Liz earned her Master’s and Doctorate degrees at Northern Illinois University in Higher Education Leadership Policy.
