Robert “Red” Fisher, events manager for the Hospice Foundation, describes what the organization is all about promoting.

“We have many different programs to offer and ensure that nobody eligible for hospice services will be turned away,” Fisher said. “We’re very proud that we’ve been able to keep that promise for the last 43 years.”

The first Center for Hospice Care Coffee Cruise took place in April.

“We’re doing two shows throughout the year during the spring and fall seasons,” Fisher said. “Even with the rough weather, we still got plenty of fantastic cars to show up.”

Fisher credited the Michiana Mustangs Club as co-sponsors of the event this year.

Bob Goeller, facilities manager at the Center for Hospice Care, is a long-time member of the Michiana Mustangs Club. He describes the relationship that the club has had with the Center for Hospice Care over the years.

“I’ve been a part of the Michiana Mustangs for more than 25 years,” Goeller said. “We’ve been donating money to the Hospice Foundation which supports Center for Hospice Care because one of our club members in Plymouth was taken care of by them. Our club has focused on the preservation of Mustangs since 1964.”

Goeller stresses that the biggest thing about this event is to help out those who might be in tight situations financially.

“This is something new. We’ve been trying to donate money to the foundation through a fun experience,” Goeller said. "All proceeds from this show go to them to support those who can’t afford hospice care.”

The idea of a coffee cruise was thought of as a way to help bring the community together. Goeller describes how they’ve worked to create an exciting atmosphere through their first two renditions of the event.

“An event like this is great because it is a bunch of laid-back conversations with other car guys,” Goeller said. “It is great being able to represent the Center for Hospice Care and talk about the organization to get new people to donate for a good cause.”

While the first two events have already proved to be a success, the Center for Hospice Care has big aspirations for this event moving forward.

“I look forward to this event helping bring the community together and making people more aware of our campus,” Fisher said. “Letting the community have a chance to get involved with something free is how we want to reward the people that have supported us.”

The St. Joe Valley Street Rods, partners of Center for Hospice Care, made an appearance with some of their classic cars. Rapha Roast Coffee provided beverages for the event as well.

The Center for Hospice Care also invited GreatNews.Life to serve as a judge for the event. Awards were given for the best car, best truck, best motorcycle, and best overall at the show.
