Marina V will make her second appearance at Chicago Street Theatre for the One Night Jam concert series on Sunday, April 14, at 7 p.m.
Born in Moscow, now living in Los Angeles with her songwriting partner/guitarist/husband Nick Baker, Marina is an extremely gifted songwriter with an angelic voice who can bridge cultures and blend the best of both into something uniquely her own.
A classically-trained pianist, her songs reach into some of the darker places in life, then suddenly soar into the light. She's recently had songs in a number of network television shows, and has toured the world to rave reviews. Her previous album, "My Star", even got the attention of guitarist Bruce Kulick of Grand Funk Railroad (formerly with KISS) who produced and played on a couple of the songs.
Her new album, "Inner Superhero," is a tour-de-force of emotional songwriting that touches the listener in ways few artists can.
She is unassuming, somewhat shy, and then she starts to sing and the power and beauty simply shine. If you need a reference for her voice, think of a blend of Tori Amos and Amy Lee of Evanescence fame, but with a solid pop sensibility.
Marina V has garnered a dedicated fan base. Her previous album, "My Star," and her new album called "Inner Superhero," were both funded completely by her fans before they were even finished.
Currently on tour in support of the new album, Marina just returned from her native Moscow where she was asked to perform at the Hard Rock Cafe.
Marina V is the kind of unique, world-class talent that Chicago Street Theatre strives to bring to the stage through the One Night Jam concert series. Come experience this other side of Chicago Street Theatre.
