Chief Doug Snider Retirement, New Administration Appointments

porter-county-sheriffPorter County Sheriff David Lain will be holding a press conference on Monday February 7th at 1:00 PM in the Sheriff’s Dept. Training Room in regards to administrative staff changes and the retirement of Chief Doug Snider.

Chief Doug Snider will be retiring from the Porter County Sheriff’s Dept. after 21 years of dedicated service. Chief Snider had served as Major for 8 years, prior to being appointed to Chief Deputy in 2007 by Sheriff Lain. Chief Snider was an original member of the ERT (SWAT) team, where he served as Commander of the team for eight years. Snider holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology from Ball State University and is a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership Academy sponsored by the Indiana Association of Chief’s of Police. Chief Snider was also a Firearms Instructor for the department. Chief Snider is leaving the Sheriff’s Department for a management position with the US Steel Corporate Security Team.
