While we were disappointed that the fireworks show did not happen as scheduled on July 4th, we were very thankful that City Parks, Police and Fire Staff worked together to make the right call and helped evacuate the site when severe storm warnings were issued. Our community was extraordinary in its response and as a result all persons were safe before the storms hit the area.
The fireworks show will pick up where it left off and has been rescheduled for SUNDAY, JULY 8 at 9:15 p.m. Parking lots will open at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday was chosen for the following reasons: Thursday's weather is forecasted with the same threat of storms as July 4. Friday and Saturday we encourage you to support the Shakespeare in the Park performances at Central Park Plaza presented by the Chicago Street Theater. Sunday's weather is predicted to be perfect as well as the best fit for adjacent area parking close to our firework's venue.
The July 8th fireworks will be a fireworks show only. There will be no vendors or additional entertainment. Please bring your own snacks/drinks if you like. Porta-potties will be on site. Please check the Valpo Parks Facebook page and website (valpoparks.org) for any future updates.
