Clark’s 14 Kills Lead Viking Volleyball Over Crown Point

The Valparaiso High School girls varsity volleyball team fell in their first game against Crown Point 23-25, but rallied back to beat the Bulldogs 25-21, 25-11, 25-11 in a Duneland Athletic Conference match on Tuesday, September 6, 2011.

The varsity Vikings were led by Sara Clark’s 14 kills and three service aces in the match. Kelsie Schutz also added seven kills and three service aces, with Brigid Scannell adding another seven kills and 15 digs. Kate Workman led the team in digs with 26, while Tarrah Lasky 12 digs and 43 assists.

The junior varsity team suffered their first conference loss of the year, falling to the Bulldogs 18-25, 25-20, 8-15 to drop their overall record to 10-2 (2-1 DAC). Sabrina Brown led the team with seven kills and four solo blocks. Cassie Kiavas led the team with 14 digs, while Mattie Chayhitz added 18 assists and two service aces.

The VHS freshman volleyball team also fell to Crown Point on Tuesday in two games, 25-17 and 25-9. Tina Matavulj led the team with 3 kills and one service ace while Liz Rivich added seven digs.
