Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County will join thousands of Clubs around the country in celebrating “National Boys & Girls Clubs Week” April 7-13, 2013. Join the fun as Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County marks the week with daily festivities at all four Clubs and Kidstop locations throughout Porter County. Forrest L. “Dusty” Rhode Portage Club: Texas Roadhouse in Portage is donating 10% of all food sales to the Portage Club on Monday, April 8th from 4:00-10:00 PM. Customers must present the “10% Donation Night” invitation at the time of dining to qualify for the donation to the Portage Club. Coupons are available at the Portage Club located at 5859 Evergreen in Portage or online at www.bgcpoco.org and www.facebook.com/bgcpoco. Coupons are only valid at the Portage Texas Roadhouse location.
South Haven Club: Be on the look-out for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County’s “Blue Door”. The “Blue Door” will be seen at a variety of businesses and organizations in South Haven. The “Blue Door” represents the partnership between Boys & Girls Clubs and the communities they serve to “Open the Door to Great Futures” for youth.
Valparaiso Club: The Torch Club is holding a collection drive for the Porter County Animal Shelter during National Boys & Girls Clubs Week. The community is invited to bring dry cat food or dog food, cat litter, blankets, and pet toys to the Valparaiso Club located at 354 W. Jefferson Street in Valparaiso between 3:00-8:00 PM Monday-Friday to contribute to the collection drive.
Duneland Club in Chesterton: The Duneland Club is hosting a Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County Program Fair on Wednesday, April 10th from 4:30-6:00 PM. Youth and their parents are invited to visit the Duneland Club (135 Lincoln in Chesterton) and learn about programs the Clubs offer to such as Club Tech, VOICE, Teen Enterprise, Triple Play and Torch Club.
The Duneland Club will host an Open House for the community on Saturday April 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Visitors can enjoy a Club tour followed by a cook out.
Kidstop in Valparaiso, South Haven and Discovery Charter School in Chesterton: All Kidstop sites are collecting recyclable plastic coffee cans for a project planned during the summer. Kidstop members will also learn about similarities and differences of other Boys & Girls Clubs around the world. There are nearly 4,000 Club facilities throughout the United States of America and on U.S. military installations worldwide.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County has been serving youth since 1971. The Clubs provide high quality programs for nearly 5,000 boys and girls in the areas of character and leadership development, educational enhancement, career preparation, health and life skills, the arts and sports, fitness and recreation. Clubs are open after school and provide a great place for youth in grades K-12 to meet friends and have fun while in a safe, supervised environment. The Clubs are also open during holidays and in the summer. Annual membership is only $35.00. Financial assistance is available to those who qualify.
