Two upcoming free screenings offered through Community Healthcare System will look for signs and symptoms of blockages in the arteries of the legs.
Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) screenings will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1 at Community Hospital, 901 MacArthur Blvd., Munster, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21 at St. Catherine Hospital, 4321 Fir St., East Chicago.
PAD is a common condition that occurs when there is a buildup of plaque or cholesterol in the arteries of your limbs – often your legs. The buildup may cause the arteries to become stiff and narrow, decreasing blood flow.
Registration is required by calling 219-836-3477.
