The Valparaiso Department of Parks and Recreation would like to congratulate Steve Bowker, an employee of Creekside Golf Course and Training Center,
as one of the 2010 winners of the David E. Simon Scholarship.
The scholarship was created to encourage and promote attaining higher education for high school seniors who have previously been employed at an Indiana golf facility in any capacity. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0/4.0 or 9.0/12.0 and are based on financial need, academic achievement, extra-curricular activities and an essay.
As the recipient of the scholarship, he will receive a scholarship of $5,000 towards college education expenses. Steven plans on attending Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
