The Crown Point Fire Department is now accepting applications for a full-time
firefighter-paramedic to fill an immediate vacancy.
Under the emergency hire process, applicants must be a licensed paramedic and certified
firefighter to qualify. The application period opens Monday, June 24, 2024, and closes at 4 p.m.
Friday, July 12, 2024. Applicants with Illinois paramedic certifications are eligible to apply.
The Crown Point Fire Department covers a population of more than 40,000 in the City of Crown
Point and unincorporated Center Township and responds to approximately 6,000 calls per year.
The department provides EMS, fire suppression, rescue and other services with 52 full-time
members, plus part-time staff and civilian personnel. Crown Point Fire hosts a regional
technical rescue team and a dive/water rescue team, both with more than 20 years of continual
service.
“We are looking for qualified, experienced applicants that have a strong, citizens-first mindset
that fits our fire department’s commitment to service, training and family,” said Fire Chief Mark
Baumgardner.
The firefighter-paramedic base salary is $72,972 after a 90-day probation period. Full eligibility
