Today, Clerk-Treasurer David Benson swore in the newest Crown Point
Fire Rescue firefighter/paramedic during the Board of Public Works and Safety Meeting.
Carley Jansky, badge No. 72, was hired to fill a vacancy caused by a retirement this year. Jansky is Crown Point Fire Rescue’s second career female firefighter.
Janksy was born and raised in Schererville, where her grandfather was a volunteer firefighter for 31 years. She graduated from Lake Central High School in 2018 with an EMT Certification.
Jansky went on to volunteer with the Lake Hills Fire Department for four years where she obtained her state firefighter certifications. In 2021, Jansky graduated from the Franciscan Health Paramedic Academy. She has been working as a part-time paramedic for Crown Point Fire Rescue for three years. In her free time, Jansky enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
She is assigned to Turn 3, which is under the supervision of Battalion Chief Joe Ferrantella. Jansky is the fifth firefighter hired under Mayor Peter D. Land.
“As we were looking to expand our Crown Point Fire family, it made perfect sense to have Carley join us full time. Carley has proven to be an invaluable member of our team over the past three years, and she will continue to serve the Crown Point community well,” Crown Point Fire Chief Mark Baumgarnder Jr. said.
