Crown Point Police Department to Host Storytime with the Crown Point Community Library

Crown Point Police Department to Host Storytime with the Crown Point Community Library

The Crown Point Police Department is teaming up with the Crown Point Community Library to host a children’s storytime.

The storytime will be held from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the Crown Point Library, located at 122 N. Main St. The storytime will be geared toward children ages 6 to 8, but all are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be provided. Registration is not required.

The event comes as the police department launched its new wave of trading cards in early October.

“We’re hoping to engage our youngest community members through the trading card program,” Crown Point Police Chief Ryan S. Patrick said. “Partnering with the Library allows us to reach families in our community right in the heart of downtown.”

“Part of the magic of the library’s downtown location is our proximity to the City of Crown Point’s first responders,” Crown Point Library Director Julie Wendorf said. “The library loves opportunities to partner with the City of Crown Point and especially enjoys showcasing our favorite community helpers like the CP Police Department.”

Crown Point children ages 4 to 12 are invited to participate in the department’s trading card contest, with the goal of collecting all 64 trading cards. The contest is underway and ends Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Once all 64 cards are collected, the child participant and their parent can stop by the police station at 124 N. East St. with their complete collection.

The first four participants to collect all 64 cards will receive a prize. First place will receive a Nintendo Switch or a $200 Target gift card; second place prize will receive a $100 Target gift card; and third and fourth place will each receive a $50 Target gift card.
