Crown Point Welcomes Newest Police Officer

Crown Point Mayor Pete Land swore in the newest Crown Point police  officer during the Wednesday, Jan. 10, Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.

Kierra Dahlgren, badge No. 131, is a 2017 graduate of Kankakee Valley High School. Following high school, Dahlgren attended Parkland Community College to play soccer and pursue a degree in agriculture.

Following her time at Parkland, Dahlgren was accepted to Alabama State University to play Division 1 soccer.

In 2021, Dahlgren interned with the Crown Point Police Department and accepted a part time job with the Crown Point PACE Department, where she has been employed since.

In the summer of 2023, Dahlgren was sponsored by the Crown Point Police Department to attend the 50th session of the Northwest Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. Dahlgren graduated with Class 23-50 in November 2023.

Dahlgren’s hire brings the department to 52 full-time, sworn officers. Dahlgren will begin  field training on Jan. 11.

“Kierra’s dedication to serve her community is unparalleled. She spent 16 weeks training  this summer to serve and protect the citizens of Crown Point. She will make a great asset to our team,” Crown Point Police Chief Ryan S. Patrick said.
