Chicago native and Grammy winner Cathy Richardson will appear at Chicago Street Theatre at 8 p.m.on Friday, September 21st, performing an acoustic concert with guitarist Jude Gold as part of the theatre's One Night Jam series.
Richardson, long a force in the indie music scene, achieved major national critical attention with her acclaimed portrayal of Janis Joplin in the Off-Broadway production of "Love, Janis" in Chicago, New York, Arizona, and San Francisco. That performance landed her a spot touring with Joplin's former band, Big Brother And The Holding Company.
That tour got the attention of Jefferson Starship founder Paul Kantner, who invited Richardson to join the band in 2008. Since then, she's toured the world, filling the shoes of the iconic Grace Slick.
This will be Richardson's second appearance at Chicago Street Theatre. She will perform songs from her deep original catalog, along with Jefferson Starship classics and a Joplin song or two.
"This is a chance to see a truly international performer in our comfortable, intimate theatre," said series promoter Paul Braun.
