As a community service, Purdue University North Central offers a free program to help guide you in making your major and occupation choice based on your interests, abilities and values. It is to your advantage to use the DISCOVER CAREER EXPLORATION PROGRAM to help define your thoughts and goals at the beginning of your college experience, and perhaps again towards graduation to reconfirm or re-evaluate your choice.
DISCOVER contains information on more than 500 occupations and describes in detail the majors that go with those occupations, including a sample of the classes required for that major. Even if you have already chosen a major and occupation, you won’t want to miss the vast amount of information readily available to you through this program. Find out the real facts about occupations and not the glorified view from the latest popular television show.
DISCOVER is much more than a career test. As a DISCOVER user, you will receive updates on the job market, salaries, state-specific salary information, scholarships, and much more. The number of uses is unlimited, allowing you to go over the information at your own pace, and also from your own home.
Once you have completed the questions, you need to make an appointment with Allana Burke, the DISCOVER coordinator, to help you interpret the results of your inventories and receive further instructions on how to use the program most effectively for you. This appointment will take approximately 30-40 minutes.
To make an appointment, contact Program Coordinator Allana Burke at aburke@pnc.edu or call:
