Duneland Chamber’s Party in the Park is Perfect Way to Draw Summer To a Close

Hundreds of happy children and their families gathered with the Duneland Chamber of Commerce at Thomas Centennial Park for the tenth annual Party in the Park. With food, music, and activities for the kids, a beautiful Saturday night in the park was the perfect way to capitalize on one of the last few nights of summer.

“Party in the Park is our opportunity to give the kids of the Duneland area one last summer celebration. None of this could be done without all of our partners that want to give back to the people in their community,” said Beth Luncsford, Marketing Director of the Duneland Chamber of Commerce, “It’s like a picnic in our back yard with 800 of our closest friends and family. Seeing everyone enjoying the night together exemplifies all that we love about Chesterton.”

Guests enjoyed music from DJ Gil Lewis. The choices for food were limitless, with Edible Arrangements, Val’s Famous Pizza & Grinders, Popolano’s, Hot Diggity Dawg, Family Express, Strack and Van Til, Gelsosomos Pizzeria & Pub, Kona Ice of the Dunes, Kernels and Kones, and El Cantarito all attending. A beer garden courtesy of Leroy’s Hot Stuff and wine from Running Vines Winery and Butler Winery were also available.

Kids bursting with excitement enjoyed activities such as bouncy houses and face painting courtesy of 1st Source Bank, Growing Kids Learning Center, LePetite Academy, Boys & Girls Club of Porter County, Chesterton Art Center, Duneland Family YMCA, Field Station Cooperative Preschool, Chesterton-Porter Rotary Club, and Westchester Public Library.

Wendy Marciniak, Executive Director of the Chesterton Art Center said, “We just love being part of the community. Party in the Park is a great way to come out to the community and show people everything the Art Center has to offer. We do classes for all ages and our kids classes start up this fall.”

The Chesterton Art Center had different painting activities for the children to do.

Misty Hensley, aunt of two children enjoying the fun, said, “We came last year and my niece had a really good time and loved it, so we had to come back this year. Her favorite thing is definitely the jump zone.”

As the event drew to a close, it was obvious that the tenth annual Party in the Park was a success. Both children and adults walked away with a smile, knowing they had spent the last Friday night of summer the right way.

The wonderful event would not have been possible without the generous support of the following sponsors: Strack & Van Til, Porter, NWI Life, Duneland School Corp, Franciscan St. Anthony, IN/KY/OH Regional Council of Carpenters, Post Tribune, Road to Life, The Times, Wagner’s, 1st Source Bank, Arnell, BMO Harris Bank, Dawn Bernhardt Coldwell Banker, First State Bank of Porter, Franciscan Omni Health & Fitness, Harris, Welsh & Lukmann, Hogan Consulting, Indiana American Water, La Porte Savings Bank, Lakeshore Bone & Joint, Porter Starke, Republic SVS, TCU, WIMS, Addison Pointe Health & Rehabilitation Center, Anton Insurance, Burke Constanza & Carberry LLP, Centier Bank, City Electric Supply, Dr. Daniel Keilman, Duneland Resale, H & R Block of Chesterton, Horizon Bank, Lakeside Wealth Management, and Superior Ambulance.
