Open Door Social Club welcomes adults that have been diagnosed with a mental illness and are compliant with treatment. “For over 50 years the Club has provided members with positive peer to peer interaction through safe and healthy social engagements, in a stigma-free atmosphere” stated Mary Hodson, executive director of Mental Health America of Porter County.
Recently, the Board of Directors of Duneland United Churches Resale made a gift of $500.00 to Open Door Social Club. Hodson shares: “As a small non-profit, our funds are stretched to cover all the programs and services offered. This donation, from the Duneland Resale Shop, gives Mental Health America of Porter County the resources to provide social activities that our club members otherwise would not have. This summer they will enjoy the County Fair, take in a movie and more…thanks to this generous donation. Duneland Resale Shop is giving the members of Open Door Social Club days filled with good times, lasting memories—improving their quality of life. We truly appreciate this gift and all that Duneland Resale Shop does to support the needs of our community.”
