Emily Nix Wins the AACPC Art Scholarship

Emily-Nix-2013-Scholarship-WinnerThe Association of Artists and Craftsmen of Porter County is proud to announce that Emily Nix, a senior at Chesterton High School, will be awarded a $500 college scholarship. Emily has plans to attend IU South Bend in the fall and major in an art-related field. She plans to minor in sustainable living with the goal of combining her love of art, with her love of the environment. Growing up, she always knew she would be an artist, "People would ask me when I was younger what I like to do. I wouldn't say that I like art. I would respond with, 'I am an artist.'"

The AACPC designates one Porter County high school senior each year to receive the $500 scholarship. Each applicant must have plans to attend college and choose an art-related major. Also, each senior is asked to submit a portfolio of 2-D and 3D work, along with a collection of sketchbooks.

The AACPC is connected to the Chesterton Art Center, which is located at 115 S. 5th St., Chesterton, IN 46304.
