This year’s co-chairs for the Valparaiso Family YMCA’s Annual Campaign are a mother-daughter force of nature. Donna Flanagin and Monica Decker of Flanagin’s Bulk Mail Service are brimming with ideas that guarantee a successful fundraiser.
Donna, Monica, and their entire family are members at the Valparaiso Family YMCA . Monica also serves a board member.
This year, they wanted to take the relationship a step further and volunteer to co-chair the Annual Campaign. “We love to fundraise,” said Monica. We try to think outside the box, and the Valparaiso Family YMCA’s has been so kind and accepting of our ideas. They are amazing.”
Donations to the Annual Campaign benefit over 3,000 community members. The donations provide reduced memberships for low-income families and seniors, clients of over 12 social service agencies and subsidized childcare. As a non-profit, the YMCA relies on the generosity of our community in creating programs ranging from special needs children and adults to adult cancer survivors to water safety instructions to chronic disease prevention and more. The YMCA is working diligently in addressing the social challenges of our community.
Donations also provide child care and summer camp scholarships so parents can return to work with the assurance that their children are able to learn and grow in a safe, nurturing environment.
“We are extraordinarily pleased that Monica and Donna volunteered to be our co-chairs this year,” Donna Demko, Annual Giving Director at the Valparaiso Family YMCA, said. “They’re wonderful, and they have been extremely generous. They bring a dynamic perspective, enthusiasm and lots of energy to the Annual Campaign. It’s going to be an exciting campaign.”
Fundraising is kicked off with a “Y-Bash” on Saturday, February 4th, at the Porter County Expo Center. You can purchase tickets at www.valpoybash.eventbrite.com or at the Valparaiso Family YMCA’s courtesy desk.
