Getting to know Levin Tire’s newest employees: John Tyler

When you’ve been in the same industry for a long time, you become immersed in every aspect of it. From the technical skills to the business aspects to the relationships with partners and customers, it’s rare that an industry veteran gets the opportunity to try something new. That’s why Levin Tire & Service Center’s John Tyler jumped at the opportunity to work at Levin’s Highland location.

“I've always been in the automobile industry, but I wanted to experience a different end of it,” said Tyler. “Levin's got a really good name. If I'm going to go to work at the other end of the auto business, I'd rather go to work with somebody who's reputable.”

Tyler began as a service advisor for Levin’s Highland location just under a month ago alongside fellow Service Advisor Jason Christensen. Even though he hadn’t worked in the position before, Tyler’s experience in the industry helped him create fast relationships with Levin’s customers. The friendly atmosphere encourages him in his day-to-day work.

“Six or seven customers a day will come up to me before they leave and say, ‘It was a pleasure working with you. I love the way you communicate and I love dealing with you. I'm definitely going to be back,’” said Tyler.

The challenge of working somewhere new and the opportunity to meet new people in the community are rewarding for Tyler, but the thing that keeps him going at Levin is the familial atmosphere he and his coworkers have created.

“I think one of the biggest things for me at this point is the way everybody gets along,” said Tyler. “There aren't any butting heads.”

Levin’s Highland location has five front-facing employees ready to tackle customer needs, and they all work together to leave everyone who walks through the door satisfied and impressed. This often means handling customers like old friends, even if they’re not one of the advisor’s repeat customers.

“If I'm off and I have a customer coming in, one of the other guys will jump in and help take care of them without chopping you up on it. If one of the guys is off, I'll jump in and help their customers without chopping them up,” said Tyler. “We’re always watching each other’s backs.”

With his long experience in the automotive industry, personable personality, and the camaraderie formed with his coworkers, Tyler brings a fresh energy to Levin that’s sure to keep customers coming back for all of their service needs.
