Hi! My name is Miss Rue and I love to drive my big yellow school bus.
My friends and family have to chuckle a bit when I say that out loud (and I do say it out loud and often), but I think it is so much fun, a joy, a blast, and such a hoot.
As fun as is to drive those big yellow diesel beasts, it also comes with an awesome and serious responsibility. The safety of our kids in getting to and from school, transported to activities is the most important part of our jobs each and every day.
I am just beginning my third year as a bus driver. I have been amazed at the quality and caring of the people in transportation, the school system overall, and especially the kids. Valparaiso is awesome!
I am here to tell you that the Valparaiso Community School Transportation department, the drivers, the aides who assist students, the office staff, and our terrific director care about the quality of services we provide for you and your kids everyday. Oh no! I can't forget our outstanding mechanics who take such good care of our buses. These are some pretty hard working folks I tell you.
Yes there are days that try school bus drivers souls, as there are in every one's lives no matter what we do, but if the tv, newspaper and Internet was my sole reality, I would never step out the door.
Most of our kids are very good, and school bus drivers are giving each day their very best. That was a glorious bit of enlightenment that I learned since I have been driving and out from in front of the tv. I rode a bus as a kid, had a kid of my own ride a bus, and now I've driven so I know the ride from multiple angles.
I am sincerely grateful for the experience to drive a school bus. Perhaps I will have the opportunity to share more things that I have seen out there on the road with you in the future.
You take care and have a wonderful day, and thanks Chris and ValpoLife.com for this opportunity to express some of my school bus driver thoughts with all of you.
