Harley-Davidson of Valparaiso isn’t just about leather and motorcycles; they’re firm believers in supporting the communities in which they live and work. With COVID-19 shutting down the world, it only made sense for Harley-Davidson to give the community a little pick me up. Through partnering with Hungry Howie’s, Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, and Domino’s, the shop was able to give away over 300 pizzas to the community and surrounding businesses.
Jeff Haggerty, General Manager of Harley-Davidson of Valparaiso and Michigan City, knows the importance of sticking together in times like these.
“This is our way of giving back to the community in a time of need,” said Haggerty. “There are a lot of people out there going through a really tough time right now, and if we can help by giving them lunch or dinner on Saturday, we are happy to do that,” he said. “It’s part of the Harley culture.”
Folks started lining up in their cars almost 45-minutes before the giveaway started. Excited for free pizza, many were simply glad to get out of the house and appreciate Harley-Davidson of Valparaiso for supporting the community. Kids, dogs, smiles, and food were all a part of the pizza celebration.
Rob Conley, General Manager at Hungry Howie’s in Valpo, was more than happy to support Harley-Davidson with this community giveaway. In fact, the store donated 100 pizzas that Conley hand-made himself.
“This is a great way for us to give back and to have people try some Howie’s, especially if they have never had our pizza before,” said Conley. “I guess you could say, this is Howie helping the community stay fed and healthy.”
All of the leftover pizzas were gladly donated to local businesses and halfway houses. A special thank you goes to Harley-Davidson of Valparaiso for continuing to support their community during this tough time!
