Heart Health Seminar at Hobart Family YMCA J.O.Y. Luncheon

YMCA-Yellow-GreenFind out more about Heart Health at a seminar from 11:30 am to 1 pm, Nov. 14 at the Hobart Family YMCA. The seminar, presented by Cardiologist Anas Safadi, MD of St. Mary Medical Center, is part of the J.O.Y. (Just Older Youth) Fellowship Luncheon.

Seniors who regularly attend are very excited about the upcoming presentation by Dr. Safadi,” said Sharon Tarry, program director at the Hobart Family YMCA. “Heart health is a very important topic and we are committed to educating our members and the community on how to live a healthy, happy life.

It is very important to me that my patients are educated and have all of the tools they need to make healthy decisions,” Safadi said. “I am here to help. Many cardiovascular conditions, including venous insufficiency and high blood pressure are treatable and patients can go on to live normal healthy lives,” he said.

Dr. Safadi specializes in interventional, nuclear, and echo cardiology. He completed his medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine. He sees patients at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart and at the Valparaiso Health Center, 3800 St. Mary Drive.

A light nutritious lunch will be served and participants may bring a dessert or a dish to share, and a canned good to be given to the Hobart Food Pantry.

We have loads of fun, too,” said Tarry. “Each month we celebrate the adults who have birthdays in that month, fellowship, laugh and have door prizes. Everyone has a great time at the J.O.Y. luncheon.”

Hobart Family YMCA is located at 601 W 40th Pl in Hobart. The luncheon and seminar will be held in the Intergenerational Room. There is a nominal fee for the luncheon: $3 for those bringing a dessert to share and a canned good for the Hobart Food Pantry; $5 for those bringing a canned good donation only; and $6 per person with no donation.
