Hilltop’s Kindergarten Readiness students Ava Solomon 4, Alais Melendez 4, and Logan Curry 5 enjoy planting a community garden with volunteer Mary Wilson at Hilltop Neighborhood House. The garden, funded by the Porter County Master Gardener’s Association, provides a dynamic environment in which children observe, explore, and discover the world around them.
As a Path’s to Quality Level 3 program, Hilltop uses many outdoor educational opportunities to teach state standard content across all areas of development in order to prepare children for Kindergarten. Seventeen students graduated from Hilltop’s Kindergarten Readiness Program this year with the exact tools needed for a successful start to their school career, and a green thumb.
