Holladay Hospitality Group’s Ken Herman has vision

Traveling for work or for fun can be stressful. Ken Herman of Holladay Properties’ Hospitality Group has spent almost 30 years making sure travelers have the best experience possible.

Focusing on transparency and partnership, Herman sees hospitality as a way to connect with others.

“We have an opportunity to make a difference in people's lives,” Herman said. “Through small gestures, interactions, and cleanliness, our work is simple and genuine. That’s what keeps me and the team going.”

Working with Herman and the Holladay Hospitality Group, hotel owners allow the team to manage the intricacies of hotel management. This work could include human resources, accounting, operations, sales, and marketing.

As a third-party management company, Herman and his team facilitate the day-to-day operations of over 20 hotels.

“If you're a hotel owner or investor, there could be a myriad of reasons why you would hire us,” Herman said. “Maybe you want to invest but you don't know anything about the hotel business. Perhaps you’re not new to the business, but you’re hoping to turn a distressed asset into a positive cash-flowing property.”

No matter the reason, Holladay Hospitality Group takes the worry out of the hotel business. “We manage everything,” Herman said. “Our clients don’t have to worry about the day-to-day operations. We're employing all employees. We're handling all of the accounting and more.”

Full of passion and vision, the Holladay Hospitality Group is always looking to improve and grow. “We want to be one of the best operators in the marketplace,” Herman said. “It’s our goal to continue to expand our portfolio while keeping it as close to home as possible.”

Herman is passionate about his work and encourages others to join him.

“'Hospitality is an industry that's hungry for talent,” Herman said. “It’s ideal for people that want to be mentored and really want to take their careers far.” Herman is quite familiar with this path.

Starting as a housekeeper, Herman worked his way up to President of the Holladay Hospitality Group.

“My career has been incredibly rewarding,” Herman said. “Hospitality is one of those careers where anyone can flourish. In my case, I started as a housekeeper and now am president of a third management company that I started.”

In his 30-year career, Herman has seen all that hospitality has to offer.

Always aiming to be the best, Holladay Hospitality Group is open and transparent with its clients.

“We are always very honest about the cost of doing business upfront,” Herman said. “We make sure there's no hidden fees or surprises.”

Unlike other third-party management groups, Holladay Hospitality Group sees this clarity as a win for all.

“We do everything on a very transparent platform,” Herman said. “It starts with honesty, transparency, and the desire to be of a beneficial value to the ownership.”

Setting his sights on the future, Herman and his team know as they expand they are making more and more of an impact.

“Every day we make a difference in people's lives,” Herman said. “One minute, you can help somebody whose dreams are coming true, and the next, you can turn around the day for a guest. No matter what, we always put a smile on their face.”
