Horizon Bank celebrated its new branch renovation on Tuesday, November 19. at 710 Indiana Avenue in La Porte.
Kevin Gould, Branch Manager of the La Porte branch, considered this to be a day of opportunity for his team and local organizations.
“We have two things going on today,” Gould said. “We completed the renovation that we started back in August just about three weeks ago. We brightened the space up to make it more customer friendly. We also have the ‘Choose Your Charity’ event where we let the community on social media decide which organizations we are going to donate money to.”
At the event, the La Porte County Family YMCA received a $2,500 donation for receiving the most votes, while the Boys & Girls Clubs of La Porte County was awarded $1,500 for placing second. Family Advocates received a $1,000 donation for finishing in third place. Additional recognition was given to the Salvation Army, the PAX Center, and Worthy Women Transformation as the other charities who participated in this initiative.
“This is great because it allows the community to let us know what is most important to them,” Gould said. “Giving back to the community has always been a cornerstone for Horizon Bank, so it’s nice to get this feedback.”
When it comes to the new renovations at the branch, there’s a lot for customers to be excited about including stunning pen and ink drawings of iconic La Porte landmarks by local artists Donald P. Bowman and the late Joyce Keane, along with captivating photography by Nancy Addie. Beyond the warm, welcoming space, the renovations also include access to walk- up video banking with extended hours from Monday – Saturday, 7AM to 7PM. Due to the banks’ location right in the heart of downtown LaPorte, this is an excellent addition giving customers walkable, indoor access to traditional banking transactions via new video banking technology after normal business hours.
Steve Kring, Regional President of Northwest Indiana, is approaching 27 years with Horizon Bank and is very proud of the branch’s fresh new look and added services. “This renovation puts an exclamation point on our ongoing commitment to the LaPorte community. I want to take this time to thank the La Porte Economic Advancement Partnership (LEAP) and Mayor Tom Dermody for their support over the years,” Kring said.
