John Hardwick Wins Fuller Award

John Hardwick, Valparaiso’s Utilities Director, has been awarded the George Warren Fuller Award by the American Water Works Association (AWWA). The prestigious award is presented for distinguished service to the water supply field in commemoration of the “sound engineering skill, brilliant diplomatic talent, and constructive leadership which characterized the life of George Warren Fuller.” city-of-valparaiso

Hardwick has led Valparaiso’s Utilities Department since 1994, becoming Utilities Director in 2005 when the departments merged. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering from Valparaiso University. He has been an active member of the AWWA since 1997, having served as Chairman of its Water Utility Council, as Northwest District Trustee, and as an active fundraiser for Water for People – an association and industry-sponsored charity which helps people in developing countries to develop sustainable water and sanitation facilities. He is also an active community volunteer, having served as President of the Valparaiso Boys and Girls Club, President of the Porter County Hospital Association, and remains an active member of the Pines Village Retirement Community Board.

In addition to being recognized at Indiana Section AWWA annual meeting in Indianapolis, Hardwick will be a guest of honor at a special breakfast during the Association’s national conference to be held this summer in Chicago.
