Julie Winans brings creative skillset & experienced perspective to BucherTech’s Sales Support & Marketing team

Earlier this year, IT & managed service provider (MSP) Bucher Technologies (BucherTech) added a new member to its team, Julie Winans. Having previously worked with MSPs, Winans brings a wealth of experience and has already carved out an important role for Buchertech in sales support and marketing.

At the time Winans’ sent in her application to BucherTech, a little over six months ago, she had been out of the IT industry for a couple of years. She saw BucherTech’s job listing on LinkedIn and knew it was a great match from the get go – she wanted to get back into the field, and the posting matched her skill set perfectly.

“I have a love for IT and a lot of knowledge, so I knew it’d be a great fit,” Winans said. “I’d also heard about BucherTech and the work they do around the community. That paired well with me wanting to work with a smaller, local MSP again.”

At the beginning of her career, she actually worked in advertising. That is where she discovered her love for IT and computers – the countless hours she spent using them to design advertisements.

“I picked up my love for IT thanks to all the new computers and software that we used while we were designing,” Winans said. “I kept up with my skills from there, and I knew that the IT industry is a great one to be a part of.”

Her first day at BucherTech happened to land on the day of the team’s full-company quarterly meeting. Winans walked into the office and promptly met every one of her new co-workers.

“It was great because it gave me an opportunity to see how the company works right from the start,” she said. “There was so much communication, and I knew right away that I was in a good place. It was a great way to start.”

At BucherTech, Winans’ role is multifaceted and requires a deep skillset and extensive knowledge. That starts with her responsibilities in sales, where she needs to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in IT, from product technical specifications to pricing and budgeting concerns. Beyond that, she helps ensure that BucherTech’s managed service customers’ devices are maintained and that their supplies never run short.

She is also increasingly involved in marketing and uses her extensive creative skills, which range from design to photography, to help build the BucherTech brand.

“I love the variety of my role,” she said. “On one hand I get to work with our customers to handle their IT needs, on the other I get to do things like redesigning our business cards and helping organize events like our upcoming fall open house. I get to use my IT skills and creative design skills – it’s unusual to get the opportunity to do both!”

One of her favorite parts of the job is how quickly the IT industry tends to evolve – it demands that she stays on her toes so that she can best serve BucherTech’s customers.

“I love learning all the new technology out there,” she said. “I have to do research to stay up-to-speed on all of it so that I can make sure we’re giving our customers what they’re looking for.”

When she’s out of the office, Winans enjoys spending time with friends and family, exploring the area, and cooking.

“I love the outdoors,” she said. “There’s so many great hiking and biking trails around here, and even just going out to the Dunes and watching the sunset is an amazing opportunity to have.”
