Located about 60 miles east of Chicago, Kankakee Valley REMC is a not-for-profit energy cooperative delivering electricity to 18,000 northern Indiana families, farms, schools and businesses. Based in Wanatah, we serve rural areas of Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Marshall, Pulaski, St. Joseph and Starke counties. Kankakee Valley REMC is seeking a qualified Journeyman Line Worker who will perform construction and maintain overhead and underground distribution lines and facilities in accordance with the cooperative safety rules and practices.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Successful completion of a power-line apprenticeship program, including electrical courses, education and experience that provide the skills, knowledge and abilities required for the fourth year apprentice classification.
• Successfully complete training through Indiana Electric Cooperatives Rural Electric Apprentice program (REAP).
• RUS Line specifications knowledge required.
• National Electric Code, National Electric Safety Code and OSHA Rules & Regulations knowledge required.
• Must be eligible to obtain an Indiana Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
• Must live within thirty (30) minutes legal driving time from the office.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical, drug screening and background check.

Education and Experience
• High School Diploma
• Fourth year apprentice will be considered, buy a journeyman lineman is preferred.
• Experience working with overhead and underground electric distribution lines and facilities, including line construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Hot line work experience is desirable.
