Keegan Maris Wins Laurel Award; Valpo Athletics Announces Additional Academic Honors

The Valparaiso University Department of Athletics continued its virtual academic honors banquet on Thursday by revealing the department’s Top of the Class Awards, Dean’s Awards and Laurel Award.

The Laurel Award is presented to the graduating senior student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average. This year’s honor was bestowed upon Keegan Maris (Batavia, Ill. / Batavia) of women’s soccer. Maris owns a perfect 4.0 GPA in nursing.

In addition, the department announced its Top of the Class Awards, which are presented annually to graduating seniors with a 3.9 or better cumulative GPA. Valpo also revealed this year’s Dean’s Awards, presented to the highest cumulative GPA by a student-athlete in each college.

Valpo will conclude its academic honors week on Friday.
