Lakeshore PAWS Gathers Donations for Local Animal Rescues, Shelters

LakeshorePawsPuppiesCalling all pet lovers: Help homeless pets by donating much needed items during Lakeshore PAWS’ donation drive, through August 26, 2011.

Leading up to United Way’s Day of Caring on August 26, local rescue group Lakeshore PAWS is asking the community to donate items for local animal rescues and shelters that are essential to the care of homeless cats and dogs.

Items requested for donation include: dry food (Purina preferred), canned food, treats, and toys, plus new or gently used collars and leashes, beds, crates, and carriers, for cats and dogs. The organization is also asking for donations of cat litter, office supplies, laundry detergent, paper towels, blankets, cleaning supplies, and garbage bags.

Donations can be dropped off at various locations throughout Valparaiso and at one in Crown Point. For a complete list of drop-off sites, visit www.lakeshorepaws.org (click “News”).

Lakeshore PAWS volunteers will gather on August 26 to box all donations and deliver them to local shelters and rescue groups.
