Levin Tire & Service Center is a prime destination to make sure that you and your family have properly prepped cars for the upcoming summer. Levin Tire would like to underscore the importance of being ‘car aware,’ a concept that improves preparedness in any situation, whether taking a more extended trip or simply bearing the heat around town.
“The summer is a little different compared to the winter. One of the biggest things to do is to be ‘car aware,'” said Dan Trzeciak, marketing director at Levin Tire. “Knowing if you have a spare tire or not, or if there is a flat fix that can be put in the tire for a certain number of miles. You have to know what you have for your vehicle.”
Being stuck on the side of the road without the ability to fix a tire means being late to an event, but more importantly, risking the safety of yourself and your passengers. Always stand a few hundred feet behind the car. If the car is hit while on the side of the road and you or your passengers are in front of it, it creates an incredibly unsafe situation.
“Second, you need to know what your insurance covers in case you have to make any changes. For someone who travels more for work or is expecting a road trip for the summer with the family, it's probably best to know what you're actually covered for in case of emergency,” Trzeciak said. “This will help you because it is one less thing to worry about if you end up on the side of the road. You want to be at least a little bit prepared so you know who to call. Are you calling insurance? Do you have to call just a tow company and pay out of pocket?”
An insurance plan can also be upgraded to cover different needs that are not necessary at other times throughout the year, and then can be later downgraded.
“Here at Levin, we do have a plan,” said Trzeciak. “Because we're part of the Goodyear Tire and Service Network, if you've had service from us within the last two years, Goodyear has a tow program. So basically you can get reimbursed for up to $100 for a tow if you are stranded somewhere on the side of the road. They give you a number you call and you pay upfront but then they reimburse you up to $100 back after you know the tow and everything is completed.”
Goodyear has locations all across the United States, so this resource is accessible anywhere.
“If you are taking a longer trip and are trying to avoid any kind of situation like that happening, take your car to a local Levin tire or your dealership,” Trzeciak said. “A lot of shops offer free inspections. You want to check your brakes, your tires—how much tread is on them. Even something as simple as your wiper blades. A lot of people may be overlook those and if it starts raining when you're driving, the streets may get a little bit harder to see when you're on the highway doing 70 miles an hour.”
Before taking a long-distance trip, knowing the tools you have for car care is key. This avoids stressful situations and provides a way to manage them if a problem does arise.
