Meet Kassi Mowbray, our devoted Breastfeeding Supervisor for the WIC Program at Northwest Indiana Community Action. With 11 years of experience, Kassi's expertise and passion shine through in her role.
Kassi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from Purdue University and completed her Dietetic Internship. She joined Northwest Indiana Community Action in 2014, and her journey here spans nine enriching years. Starting as a Registered Dietitian, Kassi's dedication to breastfeeding support propelled her to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and assume her current role as WIC Breastfeeding Supervisor in 2016.
Kassi oversees every facet of our Breastfeeding Program, ensuring participants feel supported and empowered. Her staff training sessions and provision of nutrition and lactation services significantly impact participants' lives.
Kassi deeply values the opportunities the WIC program provides, both in terms of healthy food access and employment. She is particularly passionate about the program's practice of hiring breastfeeding peer counselors from among its participants and fostering a supportive community. Moreover, NWICA/HO's commitment to offering free lactation services to those in need aligns perfectly with her mission of making breastfeeding support accessible to all.
Outside of work, Kassi enjoys true crime documentaries and podcasts, is an avid Taylor Swift fan, and cherishes quality time with her husband and their two dogs.
Kassi embodies the dedication, compassion, and advocacy that define our organization. We are incredibly fortunate to have her leading our efforts to support breastfeeding families across Northwest Indiana. Her contributions are invaluable, and we are deeply grateful for her presence.
