Dr. Gregory Cygan, DDS General Dentist
Dr. Cygan works at the Lake Station Dental office of NorthShore Health Centers. With degrees from the University of Chicago in Illinois, and with multiple residencies under his belt, Cygan is excited to be in the dental field.
“I had a lot of good experiences at the dentist as a child, so that peaked my interest. It all depends on the kind of dentist you get, if they’re patient, you can have a good experience,” said Cygan.
Originally from Naperville, Cygan loves the opportunities present in Northwest Indiana. He’s spent a significant amount of time learning how to perform oral surgery, and hopes to use those skills to his patient’s benefit.
In his free time, he enjoys music, hockey, skiing, movies, car racing, and taking time to slow down and enjoy the outdoors.
Dr. Saoussan Alfahel, MD Pediatrician
Dr. Alfahel grew up in Demascus, Syria and received her Diploma of Medicine from the University of Damascus Syria. To achieve her dream of being a pediatrician, she chose to move to the United States and was accepted by the Sinai Children Hospital in Chicago where she was nominated as Chief Resident.
Outside of her work as a pediatrician, she is married and has three children. She spends her free time teaching her kids, playing basketball, traveling, reading, and preparing delicious meals with her children.
Megan Walker, WHNP-BC Women’s Healthcare NP
Walker received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Purdue University North Central in Westville, Indiana. She then chose to pursue a Master of Science through the University of Cincinnati. Throughout each of these programs, she kept in mind her goal to aid women as she believes every woman deserves choices, respect, and support in their health.
“I see low risk patients and do routine prenatal care. I also do women’s wellness and preventative medicine,” explained Walker. “I knew when I was in school, I really loved OB. I did all of my clinicals here, and I like NorthShore’s vision of providing quality healthcare for everyone.”
Outside of work, Walker is married to her high school sweetheart and enjoys raising her ever-growing family of animals. They currently have two cats, two dogs, and 16 chickens. She enjoys coffee, music, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
Dr. Ophelia Carlton, DDS Dentist
Dr. Carlton received her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin. During clinicals she found herself loving pediatrics and geriatrics, but found that dentistry felt right.
“I really loved dentistry and it seemed like I found my niche,” explained Carlton. “I enjoy the interaction with patients and I enjoy working with doctors and surgeons.”
She’s looking forward to making a positive impact on the community around her. In her spare time, she enjoys chess, piano, music, and cooking or baking, a love she credits to her mother who was a trained chef.
