Methodist Hospital Promotes Nutrition and Fresh Produce With a Farmer’s Market

For the third year in a row, Methodist Hospitals is offering a Farmer’s Market for the Gary community area. All are invited to come and enjoy fresh and delicious fruits and vegetables of all kinds at wholesale prices.

The Market will be held on several Fridays in the coming weeks from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Northlake Campus parking directly across from the Administration Building. Look out for a big white tent and the Farmer’s Market signs.

There will also be live cooking demonstrations by Methodist Hospital’s amazing Chefs who will be showing attendees how to best use their new delicious produce at home.

After conducting a Community Health Needs Assessment in 2013, Methodist Hospitals found that there was a lack of available fresh fruits and vegetables are affordable prices in the Gary community. The hospital’s Food service Department began to open a series of Farmer’s Market and Food Fairs in the area to promote nutrition and make fresh produce more accessible to the community.

The market will be open on the following Fridays:

  • Friday, July 15
  • Friday, July 29
  • Friday, August 12
  • Friday, August 26

With so many different fruits and veggies out there, comes so many ways to chop, cook, saute, and season the best of nature’s candy. Skip the grocery store this weekend and head down to the Methodist Hospital Farmers Market and get the most out of your meals.
