Michigan City Police Department Seeks Volunteers for United Way Car Wash Competition

michigan-city-policeEvery year, the Michigan City Police Department and Michigan City Area Schools participate in a friendly rivalry to see who can raise the most funds for the United Way of La Porte County through a car wash competition.

The police will hold their car wash on Friday, October 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the police station, 102 W. 2nd St. in Michigan City. It will take place in the west parking lot, weather permitting.

"Last year, we were able to win this competition, so we need your help in retaining title," said Rhonda Swistek, records division secretary at the Michigan City Police Department.

Volunteers are sought to assist in the car wash. Previous students of the Citizens Police Academy are encouraged to volunteer and wear the shirts they received during the course. Anyone volunteering will be fed lunch that day.
