7th Avenue Between Floyd and Lake Street in Gary to Close for Sewer Work
The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD), operator of the South Shore Line railroad, will temporarily close and detour 7th Avenue between Floyd and Lake Street on Thursday, May 19, 2022. Eastbound traffic would follow the red arrows. Westbound traffic would follow the blue arrows. The detour is expected to run through June 30, 2022, but could push to July 19 depending on construction progress. The work is necessary for NICTD’s Double Track Northwest Indiana (DT-NWI) construction project. The detour will use Floyd Street and Miller Avenue as shown. There will be restrictions on Old US 12, but access to NICTD’s Miller Station will be maintained.
