Did you know that approximately 1 in 13 Americans have asthma?* And that asthma is the leading chronic disease in children?
Asthma symptoms include coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and chest tightness. During an asthma attack, symptoms get much worse. These attacks can build gradually or come on fast, and even be life-threatening.
To learn the importance of keeping your asthma under control, join Board-Certified Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Specialist, Marvi Bikak, MD, as she leads Northwest Health’s next HealthyU wellness seminar entitled Don’t Let Asthma Take Your Breath Away. The free event will be held from 5 to 6 p.m., on Monday, September 25, 2023 at the Healthcare Foundation of La Porte, 140 East Shore Parkway in La Porte.
During the presentation, Dr. Bikak will share updated medical information on why asthma is no longer considered a single disease, but now categorized into different sub-types. She will also explain the importance of comprehensive medical testing to determine your type of asthma, before working with your doctor to develop the best treatment option and daily management steps.
HealthyU is a wellness series developed by Northwest Health to provide the community with relevant health and wellness topics. The free monthly seminars are geared to answer you and your families’ questions and provide simple and actionable steps to improve your quality of life and help you stay healthy.
