Oak Partners Inc. likes to give its clients more than just financial advice. They forge relationships from trust, mutual respect, and social gatherings. On February 11th they hosted a Champagne and Chocolate tasting in honor of Valentine’s Day.
Each guest was invited to bring a plus one to the tasting to enjoy the experience.
“It’s an easy way to get to know our clients and understand their objectives,” explained Crystal DeHaven, the Director of Client Experience for Oak Partners. “We used to do it for the New Year but it’s more popular around Valentine’s Day.”
Guests were put into three groups that rotated through each wine station. While sampling Sweet Rose they learned that the difference between sparkling wine and champagne is whether or not the twice fermented beverage actually came from the Champagne region in France. The second booth was a red wine from a plateau in California that is 1,500 feet above sea level. The air pressure and cold weather stress the grape vines, giving the wine a complex taste. The taste begins as a blackberry and softens into a cherry the longer it sits in open air.
Oak Partners Advisor Marc Ruiz gave presentation number three, a pairing of Moscato with turtle candies. The white wine has seen a recent surge in popularity due to its prevalence in Rap songs.
“We love spending enjoyable time with our clients,” said Ruiz, “Because most of our time with them is serious. Personal finances are an important topic.”
“It’s an enjoyable evening,” agreed clients Ken and Pam Drangmeister. “We get to mingle with some acquaintances, some friends. And we can see that our financial advisors appreciate us.”
The conversations did move toward finances, a mutual topic for everyone, but with great wine and an assortment of Albanese candies the upbeat mood was unshakeable.
