The "12 x 12" Exhibit opened at the Chesterton Art Center on Wednesday, December 12. The exhibit is comprised of members' work and each piece is required to be 12" x 12" or less in size. Members were welcome to submit up to (3) pieces each.
The opening reception had a wonderful crowd, partly due to a number of first-time exhibitors. Lowell McClellan contributed (3) barn paintings and his family joined him at the reception to celebrate his accomplishments. Lowell has been participating in the Thursday night Open Studio with Suzie Rosso at the Chesterton Art Center, which has helped his technique and his confidence.
Denise Freeman was another artist who displayed her work at the Art Center for the first time. Denise works in a number of different mediums and opted to show a pencil drawing, an ink and marker piece, and a watercolor for the "12 x 12" Exhibit. New members, Amy "Sunshine" Barnham chose to show her encaustic work (hot wax painting) and Kathryn Weldy included her photography as part of the exhibit.
The "12 x 12" Exhibit will be held at the Chesterton Art Center through the end of the year. The Chesterton Art Center is open 11-4 weekdays and 1-4 weekends. the Art Center is located at 115 S. 4th St., Chesterton, IN 46304. For more information, please call 219-926-4711.
