Virginia Oram, and her son Tom, of Valparaiso recently performed an afternoon recital at St. John's in Naples, Florida. Virginia, a mezzo soprano, gave a performance on a "Few of My Favorite Things," accompanied by Tom on piano, Ellie Roberts, soprano, and Tracy Leonard, horn.
Virginia is a member of the voice faculty at Valparaiso University and has performed with the Eastman Opera Theatre, Opera Under the Stars, The Chautauqua Opera Association, and Indiana Opera North, among other venues. She has served as a musical director or coach for several community theatre musicals and has given numerous recitals.
Tom has been performing with his mother since his days as a boy soprano, studying music along the way and earning his MA in Musicology from the University of Michigan. Tom has since answered the calling of providing music for the Mass and is in his third year as Pastoral Musician and Liturgist at St. John the Evangelist.
