Parkview K-Kids Continue to Enrich Valparaiso Community in 2016

Valpo-Schools/k-kids-04-15-16K-Kids is sponsored by the Sunrise Kiwanis Club here in Valparaiso. It has been a part of Parkview for 12 years and was first led by Mr Greg Karas. This year’s club has around 20 students all focused on helping people in our community. The Parkview club has raised money for the Salvation Army, made blankets for the Ronald McDonald House at Riley’s Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, and is preparing to partner with the TJMS Builder’s Club for a local service project next month.

Some of their fundraisers have included a Sunday bar, reindeer food, smencils, and glow sticks. Evan Roberts, “K-Kids is a great place to meet other friends and help the community.” Mackenzie Gearhart & Lamarr Williams state, “K-Kids is something you can enjoy doing with other students, while making the community a better place. We also grow to be a better leader.” The K-Kids club is run by Mrs. Donna Battista and Mrs. Kari Gearhart. Jane Tullis and Hannah Jaroll are the high school sponsors who help at each meeting. K-Kids would encourage other students to join them in their efforts to serve the community.
