PATH Grant Awards & Programming

A Positive Approach to Teen Health (PATH) is excited to announce that we have been awarded two grants through the current round of funding by Family & Youth Services Bureau (FYSB).

Grant 1: PREP – Personal Responsibility Education Program funds will continue to support our HORIZON program offered to 7th grade students in primarily high need communities. The grant’s focus is on providing youth with the knowledge and skills needed to make healthy choices, avoid risky behaviors and engage in healthy relationships and life skills that prepare them for adulthood.
This funding award is for $449,869 for each of the next three years. Funds are restricted to include costs for this program facilitation only and may NOT be used for other programming, fundraising or general organizational expenses.

Grant 2: PREIS – Personal Responsibility Education Innovative Strategies funding will support PATH’s newest program, Relentless Peer 2 Peer Mentoring. This funding opportunity will allow us to pilot innovative strategies in teen pregnancy prevention, STI/HIV prevention and adult prep subjects such as parent/child communication, healthy relationships and financial literacy. During the pilot phase we will make needed adaptations and then in 2022 begin rigorously evaluating the final program for effectiveness and youth engagement. The program will be offered to high schools that demonstrate a high level of need in Lake, Porter and La Porte counties. Much like the PREP grant, the focus of this grant is to show positive outcomes around key evaluation points including a change in knowledge, attitudes and behaviors related to risky behaviors, relationships, and communication.

This funding award is for $895,717 for each of the next five years; 37% of the funding is for the evaluation costs to ensure that the program is making a positive impact and effective in reducing risky behaviors. Funds are restricted to include costs for this program facilitation only and may NOT be used for other programming, fundraising or general organizational expenses.

Donna Golob, Executive Director at PATH commented, “We are truly blessed and humbled to receive these types of awards. It is a true privilege to provide the youth of Northwest Indiana with programming that will have lasting benefits. We thank each of our school partners for trusting our work and providing us with the opportunity to serve students.”
