The Porter County Community Foundation recently awarded more than $87,000 in Community Fund grants to 12 local nonprofit organizations. “We see our role as helping to make Porter County a better place for all,” said Barb Young, President of the Foundation. “One way we do this is by helping our nonprofit partners provide and expand services to benefit thousands of residents each year.”
Recipients of the second round of 2013 Community Fund grants are: Dunes Learning Center, Family Concern Counseling, First Contact, Gabriel's Horn, Hebron Volunteer Fire Department, Housing Opportunities, Independent Cat Society, Memorial Opera House Foundation, Portage Resale Shop, Porter County Parks and Recreation Department, Porter County PACT and Valparaiso Family YMCA.
“Through our grant making, we support the critical work that is being done throughout Porter County by all of our nonprofit organizations,” said Young. “And this is made possible by the generosity of the many remarkable individuals and businesses that choose to help make a difference in our community.” Last year, the Foundation was able to provide more than $1.8 million in grants and scholarships.
