Porter County Parks Vice President Steps Down

After nearly three years of dedicated service as Vice President of the Porter County Parks and Recreation Board, Ruth Jarnecke submitted her resignation to the Porter County Commissioners at their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Jarnecke has been a champion for the Porter County Parks and Recreation Department, and her influence has been evident during her tenure. She imparted a generous donation in the name of her late husband, Jack, which allowed the department to build a new maintenance garage, and she was a vocal leader in the ongoing campaign to build a new barn facility at Sunset Hill Farm County Park, among many other causes and projects. She also currently serves as a member of the Porter County Parks Foundation.

While commending Jarnecke for her service, the Porter County Commissioners also announced Tuesday that they would be accepting applications to fill her seat, which expires Dec. 31, 2012.
