Porter Health System Inching Closer to New Site Completion

Porter Health System takes one step closer in their transition to their new site at the corner of US 6 and Highway 49. To mark the weight and importance of this historic accomplishment for Northwest Indiana, a 16 foot long, 700 pound beam was carted into the current Valparaiso location to allow Porter associates, doctors, and volunteers the chance to sign their names on the beam that will be placed over the entryway of the new site.

"We want to get as many signatures on this beam as possible," said Jonathan Nalli, CEO of Porter Health Systems, as he was speaking to a group of Porter employees, "because you are in fact leaving your legacy for generations."

He reminded everyone that 200 people in Northwest Indiana were being put back to work because of the new site construction and reflected the hope that this would help stimulate the region's economy.

"[The contractors] have really worked with us in setting this celebration up," commented Karen Keltner, Manager of Marketing and Communications.

After the formal comments, Nalli was urging employees to 'make their mark on history'. He commented that construction has been coming along as planned and is still on schedule for a September 2012 finish of the new site.

Nalli finished up his formal remarks by saying, "This will be remembered as a mark in lifetime, and you all have been here to take part in it, because you're incredible associates and what you do to give back to the community means the world to everybody."
