Purdue’s Women in Engineering Plan Summer Camps

Registration is open for two Purdue University engineering summer camps for middle and high school students.

The camps are presented by the Purdue Women in Engineering Program.

Engineering FYI: For Your Imagination is a residential camp focused on students who are currently in seventh or eighth grade. It will run June 17-22.

The campers will work with Purdue women engineering students on hands-on activities to learn how engineers change lives. Campers also will tour Purdue engineering laboratories and meet faculty and graduate students conducting cutting-edge research.

Cost for the camp is $400, which covers tuition, room and board, materials and supplies. More information and an online application are available at https://engineering.purdue.edu/WIEP/Programs/K-12/LEAP

Two sessions of the Exciting Discoveries for Girls in Engineering (EDGE) camp for students who are currently in their freshman or sophomore year in high school are planned. They are July 15-20 and July 22-27.

EDGE is designed to better acquaint participants with opportunities in engineering and show them how their interests and talents can be utilized to make a difference in the world. EDGE provides an overview of Purdue engineering, introduces campers to female engineers and engineering students, provides the opportunity to complete hands-on group projects and gives campers the chance to study one particular engineering discipline in-depth.

The cost is $450, which covers tuition, room and board, materials and supplies. More information and an online application are available at https://engineering.purdue.edu/WIEP/Programs/K-12/EDGE/index_html

A limited number of need-based scholarships are available for both the FYI and EDGE camps. Application deadline for the camps is April 15.
