Sitting here at Blackbird Cafe and my mind gets on a roll. What triggered it? Seeing people I like. This instance, I see Bryan Truitt from TB Lawyers in Valparaiso. We started talking about the choir performance we saw at Valparaiso High School of “This is Our Story.” I saw parts of the second night and thought it was so awesome to see the young kids and the high school kids performing together. The combination of the age groups really made for a great experience. What was even more amazing was to see the gym packed with not only parents but Valparaiso community members, students, and faculty. All these people came here to see a couple hundred kids performing and they did not disappoint. It was definitely one of the coolest events of the year.
Our conversation carried on and my business mind starting getting the better (or worse) of me and started kicking and screaming. I asked Bryan how we could make more people aware of all the outstanding photos that highlight all the events going on in the community. Right now, I would guess we have 20% of the community involved in what we cover in photos relating to business, athletics, parades, triathlons- the list goes on and on. Our small 20% group are our crazy fans that love what we do. The photo section accounts for a large portion of our site traffic.
Now, Bryan starts thinking as well about how we can get that 80% that my not know their picture, their kids picture, or lots of their friends and families shots are up on ValpoLife, to have as much fun as the 20% that love the pictures now are having. Our 20 % are looking at a photo book of Valparaiso that builds every single day. There are so many exciting events and happenings on the horizon. Thankfully, with people like Bryan, our “Rah-Rah” ValpoLife picture fans like Sue Hoffman, Judy Kittredge, Rose Andrie, Barby Alfredson, Cathy Brown, Steve Dalton and so many others, we are helping to convert the masses. :)
Well, gotta get going. The only problem with Blackbird coffee is that it gives me a days worth of ideas in one cup. At least the coffee gives me a kick in the pants hard enough to get going on them! Enjoy the pictures and do us a favor and tell others you know “Hey, I saw you on ValpoLife.”
