The Region Sports Network staff has previews up for many of the region's biggest football games taking place this Friday night. Included in their 2-part preview is the Valparaiso High School football game as they travel to the 2-0 LaPorte Slicers.
An excerpt below is from the Region Sports Network Staff piece:
For the second week in a row the Vikings will square off against a strong running team. It’s no secret that LaPorte will look to run the ball on Valpo in much the way that Penn and Carmel were able to do. If Valpo has any chance of avoiding an 0-3 start then the front eight will need to continue to improve. In the loss to Carmel the outside backers lost containment on some of the big plays for Carmel and that can’t happen again.
On offense the Vikings will need to be more balanced in their attack. In both losses so far this year the opposing defense has taken away the run and forced Valpo and their inexperienced wide receivers to rely on the air attack. Look for LaPorte to stuff the box full of defenders and make the wide receivers make some plays.
